The band’s musical identity seamlessly fused punk, rockabilly, and blues, characterized by Asai’s distinctive vocal style and the vibrant energy of their instrumentation. As pivotal figures in the evolution of Japanese rock throughout the 1990s, they left an indelible mark on the genre. The launch of BLANKEY JET CITY’s official YouTube channel in 2024 introduced a curated collection of remastered music videos and live performances. A standout moment in this initiative occurred on December 7, 2024, with the release of a new music video for Christmas to Kuroi Boots, directed by Toyoda Toshiaki, which evocatively revisits the band’s formative years in 1990s Tokyo. BLANKEY JET CITY officially disbanded on July 28, 2000.
