SpecialThanks
SpecialThanks is a prominent pop-punk band from Aichi Prefecture, Japan, established in 2005 by vocalist and guitarist Misaki. Originally formed as an all-female trio covering influential bands like Green Day and Hi-STANDARD, the lineup evolved until settling on the current members, Misaki and drummer Yoshida. Renowned for their vibrant punk rock sound, the band delivers powerful yet nuanced vocals that strive to enrich listeners’ lives with joy and depth. Up until 2015, SpecialThanks released music exclusively in English, drawing inspiration from Misaki’s admiration for Japanese bands singing in the language. Their second album, Missa, launched in July 2015, showcased the first incorporation of Japanese lyrics with the song Love begets love. The band has garnered significant recognition, notably with their single You Say Good Bye, which was featured as iTunes Japan’s Single of the Week, amassing 60,000 downloads within its initial week. Additionally, SpecialThanks has performed on an international stage, including a notable appearance at the South by Southwest music festival in the United States during the Japan Nite event in 2009.
