The Heana Cat / ザ・ヒーナキャット

The Heana Cat is a rock project spearheaded by vocalist and guitarist Hi-chan (ひーちゃん), known for its distinctive sound that fuses elements of 1980s hard rock, gothic romanticism, and J-pop. Originally formed in 2005 as a three-piece mixed-gender group called Skill Up, the band underwent a significant transformation in December 2012, rebranding itself as The Heana Cat and evolving into a female duo. In 2016, original bassist Hina retired due to hearing issues, leading to Chino stepping in to fill her role. However, following Chino’s departure in 2020, Hi-chan took the helm to continue The Heana Cat as a solo endeavor. The band’s music is characterized by intricate multi-layered keyboard melodies, driving guitar riffs, and thought-provoking lyrics, resulting in dynamic live performances that leave a lasting impact on their audience.
